Moonlight Sky Batiks in the Kitchen

It is a pleasure to work with a new fabric line from Kate Colleran Designs from Island Batik! Moonlight Sky is a beautiful line of black and whites, along with rich blues, purples and greens with a distinctly tropical feel.

Kate organized a an instagram hop as well as an informal blog hop so you can see the fabric used in lots of different designs!

At the end of this post is the link to the Kate's blog post - this is where you can enter for a chance to win Moonlight Sky!

First up - I decided to whip up our Jiffy Mitt - this can be made in a jiffy and uses just 2 fat quarters! I love this spunky oven mitt in batiks!

I used Bosal's new Heat Insulated Batting - it is safe for use up to 450 degrees F! It's die cut for you!

It's pretty thick - so how do you handle that thickness?

  • Use your walking foot;

  • Install a denim needle;

  • Use long pins or Wonder Clips;

  • Lengthen your stitch.

Then I decided, let's make a pretty drying mat! Our Dry Ideas pattern takes some strips, some foam, and turns it into a practically instant housewarming gift! A great place to park the wine glasses to dry!

I used Bosal's pre-cut Drying Mat -this is made from Bosal's Sew-In In-R-Form. Again, it's die-cut for you!

So here is my gift duo:

I love how these turned out and I can't wait to give these as gifts!
