Sand Dollars and Starfish Batiks

I had sew much fun stitching with Sea Cookies designed by Kate Colleran for Island Batik! This is Kate’s second fabric line for the company. She intertwined her love for the beach with her love for batik! I was lucky enough to be able to make a few projects! So let’s take a look!
Don’t miss this: Kate’s got a giveaway on her blog – read down to the end to find out the details!
Here are the fabrics that I received from our favorite UPS guy:
I started out with some placemats – who doesn’t love a pretty placemat? These have a tropical feel! I used our Inside Out Mats pattern for both; they use ½ yard of Bosal’s In-R-Form for a foundation. Here's the best part - no binding involved!

Next – I made a pretty Honeycomb Handbag – I just love how this sample turned out – it really pops!
And here's a closeup of the utility stitch that I use to connect the hexagons. This is a 3-part zigzag; it’s critical to match the thread to the hexy trim.
As I mentioned above, Kate is giving away a FQ Bundle of Sea Cookies! Jump on over to her blog to find out how you can get in on it! (Giveaway ends on May 7th, 2023).
Thanks for reading along! I hope you are as inspired by this new line as I am!
Keep on stitching!
-Kris
